01Who We Are

Subsee Ltd is a company incorporated in Jersey, Channel Islands. We develop and operate software services that support ocean protection for government agencies, NGOs, commercial partners, and consumers worldwide.

As a Jersey-incorporated entity, we operate in alignment with the Jersey Data Protection Law 2018 (JDPL) and, where applicable to our users, the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws.

02What Personal Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the Services.

Information you provide

• Name, email address, and password when you register
• Organisation name, job title, and billing/contact details
• Payment information (processed by our payment provider; we do not store card details)
• Communications you send us (support requests, feedback)

Information collected automatically

• IP address, device type, browser, and operating system
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 8)

Ocean and environmental data

Where users submit or upload environmental datasets, these are processed as service data and are not treated as personal information unless they contain identifying details.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, or biometric data).

03How We Use Personal Information

We process personal information on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance — to provide, maintain, and support the Services you have subscribed to
• Legitimate interests — to improve and secure the Services, prevent fraud, and communicate service-related updates
• Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Consent — to send marketing communications (you may opt out at any time)

Specific uses include: account creation and management; billing and payment processing; technical support; service improvement; security monitoring; and regulatory compliance.

04Who We Share Information With

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:

• Subprocessors who help us deliver the Services (see current list at subseeai.com/subprocessors). All subprocessors are bound by data processing agreements.
• Professional advisers (legal, audit, insurance) under confidentiality obligations
• Authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect safety
• A successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to equivalent privacy protections

Current subprocessors include cloud infrastructure providers (AWS/GCP), payment processing (Stripe), customer support tooling, and analytics services. The full list is maintained at subseeai.com/subprocessors.

05International Data Transfers

Subsee is headquartered in Jersey. Our subprocessors may process data in the United States, European Union, and other countries. Where personal data is transferred outside Jersey or the UK/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms approved by the relevant supervisory authority.

06Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for a reasonable period thereafter to meet legal, audit, and dispute-resolution obligations. When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised. Specific retention periods are available on request.

07Your Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request erasure of your data (the ‘right to be forgotten’)
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is consent-based)
• Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

09Security

We apply commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, and disclosure. These include TLS encryption in transit, access controls, regular security reviews, and staff training. No system is entirely immune to risk; please use a strong, unique password and contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access.

10Children

The Services are not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, contact info@subseeai.com and we will promptly delete the data.

11Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version is always available at subsee.ai/privacy-policy. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
